A man who repeatedly punched another man at a rave has been jailed for 23 months.
Ben Christie, 39, of Princes Street, was given the prison sentence by Sheriff Elizabeth Munro at Dundee Sheriff Court.
The sentence followed a trial, where a jury found Christie guilty of assaulting Max Harper by repeatedly punching him on the head, to his injury.
The assault took place at Mains Castle, in Mains Loan, Dundee, on December 7 last year.
A jury heard both Christie and Harper were at a rave in Mains Castle when the incident took place.
The Crown led evidence that claimed Christie had sexually assaulted a woman by touching her on the buttock.
Evidence put forward by procurator Fiscal Nicola Gillespie stated that Harper then challenged Christie about his behaviour and Christie responded by repeatedly punching him on the face.
However, Christie denied this chain of events, and his defence solicitor Paul Parker Smith stated that a sexual assault had not taken place.
Mr Parker Smith also led evidence stating Mr Harper had “jumped” Christie and had reacted by punching Mr Harper in self-defence.
The jury found Christie not guilty of one charge of sexual assault. He was found guilty of assaulting Mr Harper by repeatedly punching him, to his injury.
Christie admitted a further charge of sending a grossly offensive message to Mr Harper in which he threatened him with violence at his home address.
