A man punched his best friend of 15 years in the face, fracturing his nose — over a woman.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Jamie Finlayson, 29, hit Michael Bradfield, 28, after Mr Bradfield started kissing a girl Finlayson was “mucking about” with.
The assault took place at Holiday Inn Express, Dock Street, after the two childhood friends and the female had been drinking together.
Fiscal Depute Eilidh Robertson told the court Finlayson and Bradfield travelled from their homes in Auchterarder on December 13 2013 and met Bradfield’s female friend at the hotel.
All three drank alcohol before going to Liquid nightclub.
She said: “Bradfield met another female in the club and left with her, heading back to the hotel. Around 2am Finlayson and Bradfield’s female friend returned to the hotel. Bradfield got up to let them in, leaving the female he had taken home from the nightclub in his bed.
“Bradfield describes his female friend and Finlayson mucking about together.”
Bradfield’s female friend later got out of bed and went to the toilet and Bradfield followed her into the bathroom, where they began to kiss.
The fiscal continued: “Finlayson banged on the door of the toilet. Bradfield unlocked the door and Finlayson punched him once on the face, causing his nose to gush with blood. Finlayson then left the hotel.”
Finlayson, of Middleton Farm, Crieff, admitted one charge of assault to severe injury on December 14 2013. Sentence was deferred until August 7.
