Three supporters who climbed onto the pitch during a match at Tannadice Park were fined at Dundee Sheriff Court.
James Graham, 34, Steven Walters, 41, and John McFarlane, 25, all admitted acting in a disorderly manner.
The court heard the incident took place on March 8, during a Dundee United v Celtic match.
Fiscal depute Trina Sinclair told the court it was a Scottish Cup quarter final and there were a high number of police officers in attendance.
She said: “Around 5pm a goal was scored by Celtic and a number of supporters climbed over a wall and entered the track side of the pitch. Police officers took immediate action and the three accused were arrested and taken to police headquarters.”
The fiscal also asked that a football banning order be placed on Graham, Walters and McFarlane.
An agent acting on behalf of Graham and McFarlane said: “All three accused were sat in the front row of one of the stands.
“When the goal happened they went on to the track side and were immediately stopped by stewards so they didn’t make it on to the playing area or grass. It was a misplaced decision and they recognise there was potential for disorder.”
Walters was asked by Sheriff Di Emidio to explain his reason for committing the offence. He said: “When the goal was scored there was a surge. Everyone behind us pushed and we had to go over the wall or we would have fallen over.”
The fiscal said a police report described the accused’s actions as in “celebration of the goal”.
Graham, of Denmilne Street, Glasgow; Walters, of Dunskaith Place, Glasgow; and McFarlane, of Eskford Street, Glasgow, admitted conducting themselves in a disorderly manner at Tannadice Park, Tannadice Street, by climbing over a wall at the left west stand, running on to the football pitch whilst a match was being played and committing a breach of the peace.
Sheriff Di Emidio said: “I’m not going to impose a football banning order as I am convinced there was nothing malicious or dangerous about what you were doing.”
Graham and McFarlane were each fined £400 and Walters was fined £200.
On the pitch, the match was heated with three players sent off.
