A thug made his girlfriend cry then brutally attacked her dad after he came to pick her up, Dundee Sheriff Court heard.
John Monteath, 23, told Rachel Sommerville, 20, that he was going to the pub and she was not invited.
Her dad, Brian Sommerville, 48, then came to pick up his upset daughter and as they left they drove past Monteath and stopped to confront him.
Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson said: “Mr Sommerville got out of the car and the accused ran towards him, asking him for a ‘square go’. The accused’s friend swung for Mr Sommerville and missed.
“He then began to struggle with Mr Sommerville, during which both he and the accused knocked Mr Sommerville against his parked car, causing him to fall to the ground.
“The accused then began to kick Mr Sommerville repeatedly on the head whilst he was on the ground, and stamp on his head once he was on the ground.”
Mr Sommerville was taken to hospital by ambulance and had five stitches to a cut. Miss Sommerville also needed treatment to a cut on her eyebrow, which was closed with glue.
Monteath, a prisoner at Perth, admitted two charges of assault at Provost Road, Dundee, on February 20 this year, and a third charge of breaking the wing mirror of a car.
He also admitted a fourth charge of assault in relation to a separate case.
Sentence was deferred on both cases until June 18.
