A drug dealer who was caught receiving a 50,000 heroin drop-off in a Dundee park has been jailed.
Alexander Cruickshanks was being watched by a police surveillance team when he went to the city’s Baxter Park to collect a parcel of the class A substance.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard he was doing the deal to pay off his own 1,500 drug debt.
Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson said he was watched picking up the package from an unknown male then followed him to his dad’s flat.
She said: “Entry was gained and a bag containing two packages of brown powder were found in the electricity meter cupboard.”
The fiscal said they weighed almost half a kilo and had a street value of 49,640.
Cruickshanks, 29, a prisoner at HMP Perth, pleaded guilty on indictment to a charge of being concerned in the supply of drugs on March 14 this year.
Defence advocate Johnathan Crowe said: “He has spent a considerable amount of time in prison and has wasted a significant part of his life there.”
Sheriff Alistair Carmichael jailed Cruickshanks for three and a half years on the heroin charge.
He further returned him to prison to serve the outstanding 21 months of a previous sentence, to be served consecutively.
