A 37-year-old Dundee woman, who fraudulently claimed 30,000 worth of working and child tax credit, faces jail.
Denise Lonie, of Fintryside, admitted carrying out the crime between June 14 2009, and September 2 2013, by claiming she was a single parent, when in fact she was living with her partner Graeme Heatherwick.
Fiscal depute Nicola Gillespie told Dundee Sheriff Court intelligence led to an investigation being carried out.
Mr Heatherwick was interviewed by investigating officers and admitted the pair were in a relationship and had briefly separated in 2009, but quickly reconciled.
He also told officers they lived together as a family and that he paid household bills, debts and maintenance.
He added that they went on family holidays together.
The fiscal continued: “The accused was also interviewed by investigating officers.
“She confirmed that for the last four or five years her income included tax credit. She said she initially lived with Mr Heatherwick but in 2009 she separated from him and claimed as a single person.
“She said although they reconciled it was stormy and that there had been financial problems.”
Sheriff Drummond said: “This is a significant amount of money and custody is at the forefront of the court’s mind.
“I will call for a Criminal Justice Social Work report and restriction of liberty order assessment.”
Sentence was deferred until June 15.
