ByEvening Telegraph Reporter
A home cannabis farm was found inside a tent in a man’s flat after firemen burst in to the building to tackle a blaze.
Ian Crighton was seen by firemen coming out of his flat “coughing and spluttering” after an electrical circuit box went up in flames at his block of flats in Burnside Gardens, Dundee.
When firemen stepped inside they found a tent pitched in the flat with 10 cannabis plants growing inside.
Fiscal depute Kirsten Thomson told Dundee Sheriff Court: “Police were contacted and attended and saw lighting equipment and fans inside the tent with 10 plants at various stages of growth.
“A further search found other items used in cultivating cannabis.
“The value of the plants was estimated at around 100.”
Crighton, 27, of Burnside Gardens, Dundee, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis at his home on January 19.
Sheriff Tom Hughes deferred sentence until next month.
