A Dundee cyclist who rode the wrong way down the Kingsway without lights or reflective clothing in the middle of the night has been fined.
Concerned motorists contacted the police after spotting Carol McPherson at around 3.30am beside Tesco Extra last November.
The 40-year-old was then spotted carrying out a “figure of eight” manoeuvre on the dual carriageway shortly afterwards.
Depute fiscal Jim Eodonable told Dundee Sheriff Court: “Visibility was poor and officers saw the accused travelling against the flow of traffic.
“The officers were concerned for her at that point.”
Brian Cooney, defending, said: “She was on the bike at the top of the carriageway and got spooked when she saw the police van. She panicked and drove the wrong way down the road.”
McPherson, of Fullarton Street, admitted cycling dangerously on the Kingsway with no lights or reflective clothing on November 10. She was fined £160.
