A woman cut her own throat during a booze-fuelled argument in a Dundee flat.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Sinead Fowler had a knife pulled on her by 30-year-old Jodi Jackson.
Ms Fowler then grabbed the knife from Jackson and cut her own throat.
Ms Fowler was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment, along with a witness who had received cuts to his hand when he tried to grab the knife from Jackson.
Fiscal depute Vicki Bell told the court the incident happened in a flat on Court Street as Jackson, Ms Fowler and the man all consumed alcohol.
The fiscal said: “When the accused arrived she had a bottle of vodka and the witness had several cans of lager.
“Initially all persons sat in the living room consuming alcohol and there were no issues. However, as the evening progressed Ms Fowler and the accused became involved in an argument with each other.”
Jackson and the man then went into the kitchen with a view to them leaving the flat.
The fiscal continued: “Ms Fowler followed them into the kitchen and the argument between her and the accused continued.
“The accused then took a large knife from the knife block and shouted ‘come on then,’ whilst swinging the knife about.
“The man tried to take the knife from the accused, resulting in him sustaining a cut to his right hand.
“The complainer subsequently took that knife and cut her own throat with it, resulting in her being taken to A&E at Ninewells Hospital by ambulance.”
The man was also taken to hospital and received stitches to a cut which ran across the middle part of his fingers from the index to the ring finger.
Solicitor Ross Bennett, defending, said: “It is her position that the complainer had the knife and she took the knife from the complainer.
“I could expand on that more in a plea in mitigation at a later date when reports are available.”
Jackson, a prisoner at Edinburgh, admitted that on August 22 last year, at a property on Court Street, she assaulted Sinead Fowler by brandishing a knife towards her, whilst on bail from the High Court, Glasgow.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard today Jackson had since been acquitted after trial of the High Court case against her.
Sentence was deferred until April 22 for reports.
