Two men, who assaulted and robbed another man, had sentence deferred until April 1 at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Lee Armstrong, 21, of Bankhill Avenue, Tayport, and Cameron Price, also 21, of Haddington Place, Dundee, admitted that on May 14, in Bank Street, Dundee, they assaulted Dylan Conway by pushing him on the body, placing him in a headlock, striking him in the face, repeatedly punching him on the head, and robbing him of a skateboard.
The court heard the incident took place moments after the three met by chance in McDonald’s, Reform Street.
Fiscal depute Alex Piper said: “Price grabbed a skateboard from the complainer and ran off.
“The complainer gave chase to Bank Street and asked Price to give the skateboard back but he refused.
“Price’s friends gathered around them and the complainer tried to grab the skateboard.
“At that point, Armstrong took hold of him, put him in a headlock and kneed him in the face. Armstrong then repeatedly punched him on the head and the complainer broke free and tried to pick up the skateboard but Price stopped him.
“Price then took the skateboard and ran off to Reform Street.”
Police were called by witnesses.
When officers arrived Armstrong and Price were traced and the skateboard was found discarded in a bin.
Solicitor Raymond Wachtel, defending Armstrong, said: “Had my client had any sense he would have sat down and ate his hamburger.
“But he knew of bad blood between them, so ran after them.
“He tried to get in between them and something happened which he took a dim view of and he got involved.”
Solicitor Kris Gilmartin told the court his client Price was a first offender.
The court heard that there had been a dispute over the ownership of the skateboard.
Mr Gilmartin added: “Mr Price took it on himself to take the skateboard.
“He accepts he should not have done that.”
