A picture taken in Dundee in the early hours shows the huge Silver Spirit cruise ship docking in the city as continues on its return to Southampton.
Silver Spirit docked in Dundee at around 3:30am after leaving Kirkwall on Wednesday on its tour around the UK – which included a previous stop in the city earlier this month.
One photographer captured a picture of the ship arriving at Dundee Harbour in the early hours from the top of Gray Street in Brought Ferry.
The ship’s itinerary indicates it will leave the city sometime Sunday before heading on towards Southhampton where its current voyage will come to an end.
The luxury cruise liner has a unique history, with the shop once cut in half so that it could extended.
The vessel was extended in 2018 from 195.8 to 210.7 meters, growing the number of passengers who can board the ship from 540 to 608.
Passengers can now benefit from the ship’s even larger swimming pool, which grew by 50 feet.
According to operator Silversea, the ship’s cosmetic work, which boosted capacity by 12%, was a first in cruise liner history.
The work required more than 500 workers and 450,000 man hours to be completed – and hit headlines around the world.
Speaking at the time, Barbara Muckermann – Silversea’s chief marketing officer – described the work as “breathtaking”.
She added: “The lengthening and refurbishment of Silver Spirit will replicate the modern elegance of our latest vessel to make for a more luxurious travelling experience.”
