Police are investigating the sudden death of a woman at a block of flats in the Douglas area of Dundee.
Emergency services were called to Balunie Street just after 8pm on Tuesday, where a woman – believed to be in her 50s – was found dead.
Neighbours have told of their sadness at the death of the woman, whose identity has not been confirmed.
One neighbour said: “I’m so sorry to hear that a woman has lost her life. I saw a police van and an ambulance in attendance.
“The ambulance was stationary in the middle of the road – given the way it was parked I did fear the worst.
“Vehicles were turning back as they couldn’t get up and down the street.
“There was a police van in attendance as well over the course of yesterday evening and I was aware they were at the next block of flats.
“It’s just so sad and my condolences go out to the woman’s family at this time.”
‘We’re so sorry to hear what happened’
A woman who lives nearby in Douglas says she became aware of the death on Wednesday.
She said: “We were so sorry to hear what had happened.
“I saw the ambulance and the officers in one of the blocks of flats. We were told someone had sadly passed away.
“Like others have said, we are just thinking about this woman’s family at this terribly sad time.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We received a report of a sudden death of a woman within a property on Balunie Street, Dundee, around 8.10pm on Tuesday.
“Inquiries are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
