Late-night venue Nola has announced its official reopening date for later this month, after being closed for more than a year.
The bar and cocktail lounge launched just a week before the pandemic forced temporary venue closures across the country last year.
The venue was earmarked to reopen in August with the easing of Covid-19 restrictions.
However Nola remained closed indefinitely after being bombarded with a month’s worth of rain in a matter of hours in July.
Now, owners have confirmed the lower Union Street bar will reopen to the public on Friday October 15.
After the summer flooding, Macmerry 300, which runs a number of establishments in the area including Bird and Bear and Abandon Ship, feared for the future of the basement bar.
Operations director AJ McMenemy told The Courier at the time: “Nola was ravaged by the flooding, given its location in the basement.
“When the rain hit it was solid for about 45 minutes. It literally blew the storm covers off the drains.”
Nola reopening date announced
After a precarious year, the subterranean bar and cocktail lounge will open from 10pm until 2.30am next weekend.
It will host local DJs including La Freak Records and Liam Reilly each night and feature live performances.
Mr McMenemy said: “Nola is set to bring the bougie party to Dundee‘s thriving hospitality scene.
“With sophisticated drinks, table service and a stunning setting, we’re excited to officially launch next week.
“It has been a long time coming and we’ve got an incredible programme of DJs and drinks to celebrate finally opening our doors.”
The bar will be open on lower Union Street seven days a week from Friday October 15.
