Tributes have been paid to a Dundee veteran who died after a motor bike collision.

Scott Forbes, 49, died after being involved in a motorbike collisionĀ in Stirlingshire on Saturday afternoon.

HeĀ was travelling west on his Honda CBR Fireblade along the A85 when the incident happened, about 1.5 miles east of Lochearnhead.

Scott had served in the Gordon Highlanders in the 1980’s and 1990’s and had completed several tours of Belfast with his friend Kevin Bruce.

Kevin paid tribute to Mr Forbes, saying he always had the biggest smile for everyone.

“Scott and I went through our basic training together, and completed tours of Belfast in the late 1980’s,” he said.

“He was an incredibly fun man to be around. He was a man who always had your back and you could rely on him.

“He always had a big smile for everyone.

“I believe he got in to motorcycling after I left the army and he stayed on. Scott was someone who always had the safety of other motorcyclists at the forefront of his mind. Safety was always very important to him.

“He had helped to organise a 500 mile round motorcycle trip.

“Scott was a family man, he spoke always spoke very highly of his children.”

The road where the collision took place was closed for around six hours after the crash to allow police to conduct their investigation.

Police Scotland have appealed to people who were driving in the area at the time to contact them.

Sgt Ruth Aitchison, from the Road Policing Unit in Stirling, said: ā€œThis has been a tragic incident where a motorcyclist has sadly died.

ā€œWe are currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and ask that anyone who was on the A85 on Saturday afternoon and believe they have information relevant to this investigation, please contact us.ā€

Mr Forbes is the third person to have died in a motorbike collisionĀ this week.

A 27-year-old man died after being involved in a collision with two cars on Great Northern Road in Aberdeen, also on Saturday.

In Ayrshire, 23-year-old Ross Quin died afterĀ after his motorbike collided with with a Mercedes sprinter and a BMW 3 on the A737 in Beith on Wednesday.

Anyone with any information involving the incident is asked to call police on 101.
