Police have launched an appeal for information after a body was reportedly seen in the River Tay.
Officers are urging anyone who may have seen a person acting suspiciously or in a concerning manner near to the water at Riverside Drive between 9.30pm and 10.40pm last night to come forward.
After the sighting of the body was reported by a member of the public, the Coastguard immediately sprang into action and a search of the area was carried out.
The search resumed on Thursday morning but police reported there were no further sightings.
Police Scotland continue to make enquiries into the incident and further searches are planned.
Officers understand that a man aged between 18 and his early twenties, about five feet seven inches tall and of medium/large build was seen near the railway bridge on Riverside Drive at about 10pm.
At that time he was wearing a dark navy or grey hooded top and dark-coloured jogging bottoms.
Anyone who may recognise the description of this man, or anyone who was in the area of Riverside Drive last night, particularly in the area between Tesco and the Bridgeview Station Restaurant is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 as they may have information vital to the enquiry.
