I learned two things from my attempts to video seagulls this week.
Ahead of The Courier’s special Don’t Be Gullible series on the problems caused by the surge in numbers of gulls, we decided to record some footage of the birds in action.
So, off I traipsed.
The Stannergate in Dundee is a popular haunt for these scavengers, and they didn’t let me down. There were loads of them.
Perhaps they use it as a meeting point to decide the day ahead: Broughty Ferry for an ice-cream lads? Or should we wing it into Dundee city centre for a lunchtime sandwich?
Whatever brings them here, I learned: (1) slowed down and seen in flight, they can be quite beautiful; and (2) they are developing a taste for GoPro cameras. Ours only just made it out alive.
