There will be no daytime public pool access for Dundee swimmers as a facility in Lochee joins the Olympia in a temporarily closure.
LeisureActive confirmed on Monday that the Lochee Swimming & Leisure Centre will close for a week from November 29.
Short term works will take place at the centre and library during the week, meaning these facilities will be inaccessible.
It is estimated the Lochee pool works will take one week to complete, with the facility projected to reopen on Monday December 6.
No daytime pools
The closure means that local daytime swimmers will not have access to any Dundee pools for the entire week.
The Olympia has been closed for over a month, with local swim teams slamming the lack of transparency from bosses.
The Olympia shut indefinitely on October 13 due to a lighting issue, with Leisure & Culture suggesting that it may not reopen until December.
Swimming competitions had to be cancelled and relocated due to the closure.
The closest public swimming sessions do not start until 6pm. These are available at Grove, St Paul’s or Harris Swim and Sport Centres.
An email from LeisureActive to all members read: “For pool users, we understand that this closure will be frustrating, particularly for daytime users with no alternative facility available.
“We will be contacting affected members who have used Lochee Swimming & Leisure Centre on a regular basis since September 2021 to highlight how this will impact your membership.
“We will continue to provide further updates on our website and social media as they become available and will keep members directly informed via email.”
