Dundonian dog lovers have expressed their fear after a middle-aged man allegedly tried to snatch a dog from a garden in Broughty Ferry on Monday evening.
A post on the popular Missing Pets Dundee Facebook page claimed a man in a white Range Rover entered a residential garden and lay a “white marking” before fleeing when challenged by the concerned homeowner.
The warning was shared hundreds of times within a matter of minutes.
The worrying post said: “Hope it’s OK to post this, but just had a white Range Rover type car pull up outside my house, a man who appears to be in his 50s tried to get in my side gate which I locked shut earlier.
“He then bent down like he was picking something up but I went out after him to find a white marking in my driveway.
“He was so quick in getting away I couldn’t confront him. High possibility this is dog thieves.”
Though details of the incident remain sketchy, the post has made uncomfortable reading for dog owners following the theft of eight-month old Border Terrier pup, Rosco, who was stolen from 82-year-old Leonard Ormond’s garden earlier this month.
The Courier revealed last week that volunteers believe they have made a breakthough in tracking Rosco’s alleged abductor down.
Campaigners posted an online warning to the man they believe responsible for the incident and now hope he will hand Rosco back.
