Concerns have been raised after a metal structure came loose and fell on a busy Dundee street near to Dundee train station. The precarious piece of metal narrowly avoided hitting a man who was passing the site of the new station, bursting through a protective barrier. It is now being held up by a crane, and the broken barrier has been partly repaired. The railway station is currently part building site, forming a part of the city’s billion pound Waterfront development. The incident occurred at around 4pm on Tuesday. A spokeswoman for Balfour Beatty, the contractor building the new station, confirmed that no one had been harmed as a result. She said: “An incident occurred on our Dundee Rail Station redevelopment on Tuesday. “We can confirm that no one was harmed. The safety of the public and our workforce is always our primary concern. “We are investigating the cause of the incident, and will take the appropriate corrective action.”
