Dundee rockers The View will return to the live scene with a gig in Angus tonight following a difficult summer.
The Montrose Town Hall concert will be the band’s first performance since Kyle Falconer’s return from intensive rehab in Thailand.
Kyle loves the town and has happy memories of the town as he used to go there with his family to the caravan site when he was growing up.
It will be the first time the band has played in Montrose and the gig is a warm-up for a Barrowlands show in Glasgow on September 16.
The singer is just back after spending two months at the Lanna Rehab in Chang Mai to deal with alcohol and drug addictions which he described as his “last chance”.
Kyle said: “Being at Lanna has given me the opportunity to prepare for what my future has to offer me and the means with which to look forward to it with genuine enthusiasm.”
During his spell in Thailand he took some time away from focusing on himself to teach a group of local orphans from Im Jai House how to play ukulele.
Darren Lockie, co-Founder of Lanna Rehab and CEO, said Kyle made a big impact on the kids but it also had an impact on him – a sense of giving.
He said: “Life is full of many small miracles, many small moments that bring incredible joy and a sense of wellbeing, of having done something good for others.
“That’s what brings a peace to your heart and soul and a smile to your face.
“It’s joy.
“It’s the joy that so often fills whatever hole you may be trying to fill with alcohol or drugs.
“And that, in a very real sense, is what life is really all about.
“Doing for others.
“Kyle Falconer is a very talented musician, but it turns out he’s also a really good guy.”
The Barrowlands gig sold out quicker than ever before which goes to prove the enduring popularity of The View.
The band released their debut album Hats Off to the Buskers in 2007, which reached number one was nominated for the Mercury Prize.
Their last album Ropewalk received great reviews from the music press and the band is in the midst of promoting what is their fifth studio album.
