Francis Malone is alleged to have gone to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee in possession of the blade on March 24 this year. Prosecutors say he took the meat cleaver into the accident and emergency department there. Malone, 62, of Fleming Gardens East, Dundee, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing a blade on summary complaint. A trial date was set in December and he was ordered to return to Dundee Sheriff Court for a pre-trial hearing in November.
