Armed police were part of an emergency response after a medical incident at a Dundee store.
Several police units were scrambled to WH Smith on the Murraygate at around midday on Tuesday.
Concerned bystanders said the store was closed as police and ambulance crews offered medical assistance to an individual.
The person was taken into the back of an awaiting ambulance and given a police escort to Ninewells Hospital.
It’s understood the armed police officers attended because they were one of the closest units to the incident.
Martin Greaves from Carnoustie had been one of those situated outside the store in the aftermath.
The 56-year-old added: “There was five police vehicles in and around the Murraygate.
“I saw one of the officers was part of the armed response.
“Given the presence of so many police I did wonder what on earth had happened.
“The store was obviously closed and then a person got conveyed into the back of the ambulance.”
Another man praised the officers who’d rushed to the person’s aid.
He added: “I can understand why folk were naturally concerned.
“There was a lot of police here and there was officers present from the armed response.
“They were trying to help get the ambulance away from the area when I came past.
“From what I could see it appeared the police were giving the ambulance an escort to hospital.
“I just hope the person is ok and also the staff at the shop.
“The lights were getting turned off at WH Smith as I was leaving the area just before 1pm.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland added: “Officers attended as part of a medical matter on the Murraygate, Dundee at around midday on Tuesday December 21.”
