As well as the financial boost to the city, the bucket trail also led to the creation of a staggering 1.34 million selfies.
Over 70,000 locals and visitors picked up one of the bucket trail maps or downloaded the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail app over the summer.
Archie has also announced that 8,000 tickets to last weekend’s farewell event were sold within the first 24 hours of going on sale, highlighting just how popular the trail had become.
Neil Cooney, project manager of the trail, said it reflected how well the people of the city and beyond had taken to the Oor Wullies.
“The auction was fantastic culmination that represented the whole trail in as much as expectations have been blown away as the trail has gone on. It has been wonderful for us as a team, for Archie, and for the people of Dundee.”
