Tributes continue to pour in for Auchterhouse dad-of-five Adam Watts  who was killed in a dog attack at the kennels at his home.

Among those is a glowing tribute from Marc Lorente chairman of Monifieth Athletic.

Adam sponsored one of the teams and two of his sons have played for the club.

Marc said: “It is with great sadness that we learn of the tragic passing of Adam Watts, 55, who owns Juniper Kennels and sponsored the over-5s team.

Adam was an ‘outstanding’ person

“He was an outstanding individual and an absolute super dad who any other father was inspired by.

“Despite running a business and being left widowed in February 2013 after his wife Eileen passed away with cancer aged 46, he committed himself to caring for his five boys who were aged 2 to 12 years at the time.”

Marc added: “It was not unusual for Adam to drive up to 200 miles a day catering for his boys, taking them to clubs and friends all over the Tayside area and his typical Sunday night was staying up until 1 am to iron 25 school shirts.

“The boys are an absolute testament to him with one previously playing for the club and another still here.”

Marc continued: “It was an absolute pleasure to have called him a personal friend and it’s fair to say that after spending the last couple of days with his sons and family, who have travelled up to be with them.

“We as a club and community, as well as the many friends he and the boys have, will do everything we can to support his amazing boys now and in the future.

“It goes without saying they are all in our thoughts.”

Fundraising

Meantime a fundraiser for Adam’s family, has now raised over £36,000 since it was set up two days ago.

An initial target of £5,000 had been set but on Sunday, £36,392 had been donated to Adam’s loved ones.

Nearly 1,200 people have donated to the fund, which is likely to continue rising into next week.

Floral tributes have been left at the family home.

Residents of Auchterhouse were left shell-shocked by the death of the 55-year-old on Wednesday afternoon.

The father-of-five owned Juniper Kennels and Cattery in the village, where the attack happened.

Police attended but Mr Watts was pronounced dead at the scene.

Loved and respected

Janine Sturgeon of the charity Save Our Seized Dogs launched the JustGiving page in connection with dog fostering charity Salt’s Helping Hounds Rescue.

Janine said: “It is a measure of just how respected and loved Adam was that we have raised such a phenomenal amount of money and exceeded our target in such a short space of time.

“We are going to keep the fundraiser active to raise the maximum amount we can to help Adam’s boys and family.

“Thank you all for the amazing support you have shown for Adam’s family during what must be for them the most devastating and heartbreaking time.”
