Miniature versions of some of the most popular Oor Wullie sculptures will go on sale in a new ARCHIE Foundation shop.
Smaller incarnations of the Oor Original, Tangerine Terror, Oor Bobby and Thick Cut statues will be available from the Wellgate Centre unit later this year, while a version of Wullie the Menace is already on sale.
A paint-your-own sculpture will also return due to popular demand.
The charity has moved its premises from the Overgate Centre into the Wellgate Centre, where it will remain until January.
Fundraising manager Hannah Clark said: “The shop opened on Tuesday and people have been coming in knowing who we are and they’re surprised we’ve moved.
“It has been great because people have been coming in to buy ARCHIE stuff as well as Oor Wullie stuff.
“Having a shop will help all of our future campaigns that we do.
“We are hoping to have pop up events – with artists from the trail coming in and doing workshops. There is so much potential for what we could do.”
Hannah added that she hoped special Snowglobe Wullies would be available in time for Christmas too.
Some of the statues had previously been on sale during the Bucket Trail farewell event, where 840 were sold in one day.
Volunteer Linda Meiklejohn added: “People have got this real affinity for the statues.
“Every other person who comes in says they used to get the annuals or had some sort of connection to Oor Wullie.”
ARCHIE raised £883,000 at the bucket trail auction last week, with many of the purchased statues remaining in Dundee and Tayside.
Money raised from the sculptures will go towards ARCHIE’s Courier-backed campaign for improved healthcare services at Tayside Children’s Hospital.
The £2 million appeal will help to transform the new unit with child-friendly surroundings, equipment and specialised staff that can’t be funded by the health board.
The foundation says it hopes to “make the difference” to the NHS Tayside-funded suite by providing facilities above and beyond what would typically be provided by the health service.
