A 77-year-old man has admitted stalking a woman 40 years his junior.
David Milne “engaged in a course of conduct” that caused a woman — who cannot be named for legal reasons — fear and alarm.
Forfar Sheriff Court was told Milne repeatedly waited for the woman to pass and waved at her, engaged her in conversation over the course of six months between January and June last year.
Milne also made “inappropriate and sexually explicit comments” to her and delivered letters to her house that “contained inappropriate comments”.
Milne also stood outside her house and stared at her.
Milne, 77, of Edward Place, Muirhead, by Dundee, pleaded guilty on summary complaint to a charge of stalking.
Brian Bell, defending, said: “The lady involved was significantly younger than him – I think she’s in her 30s.
“There have been no further difficulties here.”
Sheriff Gregor Murray deferred sentence until next month for additional social work background reports after Milne denied his involvement in the offences when interviewed by social workers ahead of the hearing.
The sheriff threatened Milne with jail if he didn’t co-operate fully.
He said: “You have pled guilty to these offences. You can’t then maintain to a social worker that you didn’t commit them.
“If you don’t act frankly to the social worker this time I may have to put you somewhere where you will.
“I don’t want to have to do that because of your age and background.”
