Children at a Broughty Ferry primary are still having to navigate their way through roadworks and parked cars to get to school.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said it is making enquiries into the situation on Church Street, where Eastern Primary School is located.
Dismayed parents say they fear children could get “seriously injured” as they try to cross the road at the bottom of Church Street.
Pavement improvement works are currently being carried out, forcing children walking to school to cross the busy road.
Haphazard parking is adding to the disruption, with some cars stopped illegally on double yellow lines obscuring the view of pedestrians trying to get across.
Parents are still concerned about the danger posed to children and adults trying to make their way up and down the street.
There is currently no crossing patrol guard at the junction of Church Street and Queen Street in the morning and after school, something Ferry councillor Laurie Bidwell has asked the council to temporarily amend.
Mr Bidwell also said the council need to get better at supervising when and where road works were going to be carried out in future.
He said: “The bottom of Church Street, where it meets Queen Street, is an incredibly busy road.
“It becomes even busier when pupils at both Eastern Primary School and Grove Academy are going to school in the morning, having lunch, and when they leave at the end of the school day.
“A concern was raised by myself and other concerned parents and elected officials to the council recently, and a set of traffic lights was put in place to help children cross safely.
“What is happening at the moment on Church Street is really not satisfactory.
“I have now asked the council to install a temporary crossing patrol guard to make the junction and the crossing safer.
“I understand that might mean relocating a guard from someplace else.
“As a council, we need to get better at supervising how and when the work is taking place in future.”
A spokesperson for Dundee City Council said: “Dundee City Council is completing the first phase of improvements to foot ways on Church Street.
“The second phase of the enhancements will be completed during the school holidays in order to minimise any further disruption.”
A spokesperson for HSE said: “Officers from the Health and Safety Executive are looking in to the traffic works on Church Street in Broughty Ferry and are presently making inquiries.”
