A driver was taken to hospital on Thursday morning after a dramatic crash on the B954 Newtyle to Auchterhouse road.
The male motorist had to be cut out of his car and was treated by a trauma team after his vehicle overturned.
Police officers were at the scene, north of Muirhead, and closed the road just after 8.25am with diversions put in place.
Police Scotland confirmed that one man had been injured in the incident but his condition is unknown.
Ambulance workers and fire crews were also on the scene.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “We were called out to a road accident at Newtyle at 8.27am.
“A male casualty was trapped and he was removed using cutting gear.
“He was placed in the care of the trauma team.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the B954 Newtyle to Auchterhouse road has now re-opened after a road traffic collision.
“The driver of the vehicle was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.”
