Former England international footballer Jamie Redknapp shocked pupils at a Dundee high school with a surprise visit.
The 42-year-old Sky TV pundit arrived at St John’s RC High School on Wednesday after hearing of the school football team’s recent win in the Scottish School Boy’s Senior Championship.
After taking part in a bit of five-a-side’s with the team in the school’s sports hall, he posed for pictures with the gigantic trophy and chatted to staff.
He also congratulated siblings Jodie Taylor, 15 and Josh Taylor, 12, as well as Scott Swayne, 17, on their recent golfing championship successes.
After tiring himself out with the youngsters, he said: “I am a big golfer now but when the ball comes out, you can’t help yourself. It’s great to see these kids playing and enjoying it, sport really is important and plays such a big part in people’s lives.”
On his wife’s efforts in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, he admitted he’s been torn between that and his more traditional interests.
He said: “Louise is doing great, she’s loving it. I never thought I’d say this but the Ryder Cup was on at the same time as Strictly and I found myself flicking between the channels.”
