Boxing fans have helped raise more than £7000 for the family of tragic Dundee boxer “Iron” Mike Towell.
Mike, 25, died following a boxing match in Glasgow earlier this month.
His death has sparked widespread debate on the safety of modern-day boxing.
Leading figures from the sport including former world champion Ricky Hatton publicly shared their support for the 25-year-old’s family and friends.
Now, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed £7440 has been raised as part of ticket sales from boxer Ricky Burns’ fight with Kiryl Relikh.
Mr Hearn announced last week that ticket sales for the fight, covering a 24 hour period, would be donated to the family of “Iron” Mike.
The generous promoter has now matched the money raised in ticket receipts, with all cash going to the family of the fallen boxer.
Thanks to the fans in Glasgow, £3,720 in ticket money last Thursday for #IronMikeTowell – we will double that making £7,440 to the family

Sharing the good news on Twitter, Mr Hearn said: “Thanks to the fans in Glasgow, £3,720 in ticket money last Thursday for #IronMikeTowell – we will double that making £7,440 to the family.”
British legend, Hatton, has also launched a separate fundraising page in aid of Mike’s family.
Hatton started the fundraiser by making a £5000 donation of his own.
