The funeral of Dundee boxer Iron Mike Towell is taking place in Dundee on Friday. The 25-year-old collapsed after his fight against Welshman Dale Evans last month. He died in hospital the following day. A hearse carrying Towell’s coffin parked outside St Andrew’s Cathedral on Friday morning to allow mourners to pay their respect. The flowers alongside the coffin were arranged to spell out Iron Mike. Many mourners wore t-shirts celebrating the young boxer’s life. Towell is survived by his partner Chloe Ross and two-year-old son Rocco. A concert in the boxer’s memory has been arranged for October 22. All proceeds will go to his family. An online fundraising appeal set up by former world champion boxer Ricky Hatton raised more than £46,000 in aid of Towell’s relatives. More to follow.
