Fire crews tackled a blaze that took hold at a Dundee industrial estate early on Sunday morning.
Locals reported plumes of smoke that could be seen across the city, prompting a large number of calls to the emergency services from concerned residents.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the blaze had been reported to them just after 6:50am, with several appliances sent to the scene to tackle the fire.
Pictures show flames and a large column of smoke rising from the Dryburgh industrial estate.
Five fire engines and a significant number of firefighters responded to the incident, with crews seen using breathing apparatus as they tackled the flames.
Crews were pumping water from a nearby hydrant and pouring it onto the building’s roof using a high-rise ladder.
It is understood the fire was confined to the SIG Roofing unit on the Faraday Street area of the industrial estate.
Firefighters left the scene shortly after lunchtime, with no casualties confirmed as a result of the fire.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman told The Courier that five fire appliances had responded following 999 calls.
“We were alerted at 6:51am on Sunday February 27 to reports of smoke issuing from a commercial building at Dryburgh Industrial Estate in Dundee.
“We presently have five appliances in attendance and firefighters are working to contain and extinguish the fire.
“There are no casualties,” she said.
Police Scotland was also at the scene, with parts of the industrial estate still cordoned off leaving a number of businesses closed.
One resident living in the Camperdown Road area of the city said the smoke had been “very heavy” since the early hours.
“It hasn’t been blowing directly towards our house. I am just glad no one has been hurt, it looks very bad,” she said.
In a tweet to locals, SFRS said those in the area nearby should keep their windows closes.
“We are receiving a lot of calls about a fire at a commercial building in Dryburgh Industrial Estate Dundee which is causing lots of smoke.
“Nearby residents are advised to close their windows,” they said.
