A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being knocked down on a major Dundee road.
The woman was involved in a collision with a car on Macalpine Road at around 12.15pm on Wednesday.
The road was closed for around 45 minutes near the Lidl supermarket while emergency services attended the scene.
It is understood the woman was not seriously injured.
Traffic turned back near Lidl supermarket
One witness said: “I was driving up Macalpine Road when police turned me back.
“I had seen police cars with their sirens and lights going up the road just ahead of me so knew that something had happened.
“The incident had happened just outside Lidl. I had to turn around in the store’s car park and head back the way.”
The woman says she saw people gathered around someone lying in the middle of the road.
‘It was really upsetting to see’
She said: “At that point there were police officers there but the ambulance still hadn’t arrived.
“It was really upsetting to see.”
Another man who was in the area at the time described seeing two ambulances and five police cars.
The 57-year-old said: “The circle at Americanmuir Road was closed off and cars were getting turned back at around 1pm.
“The incident appeared to happen just at the crossing near Lidl and there was a small black car parked up at the scene.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 12.15pm on Wednesday, officers received reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on Macalpine Road, Dundee.
“The female pedestrian was taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance.
“The road was reopened around 1pm.”
