Police sealed off a street in the Whitfield area of Dundee as forensics officers search a house.
Locals say there was a huge police presence on Whitfield Avenue from late on Monday night.
The street was closed off, with officers guarding both ends of a row of terraced homes.
Police have since confirmed the house is at the centre of a murder probe.
Officers wearing white suits were seen inside and in the garden of the property, while police have also entered the house to remove two dogs.
One resident says there was a disturbance in the area late on Monday.
He said: “There was quite a commotion, then the police started arriving.
“They went into the house, then they closed off the street and they have been there ever since.”
A neighbour told The Courier: “The police were there when I got up at 7.30am today.
“I have never seen so many police at one house.”
Another resident said: “There has been a huge police presence there all last night and all day.
“I have also seen police officers in white forensic suits.”
Police Scotland later confirmed a murder probe has been launched after a man’s body was found inside a house on the street and a woman has been arrested.
Detective Inspector Craig Ross, of Police Scotland’s major investigation team, said: “This is an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider community.
“Anyone who believes they may have information relevant to the investigation is asked to email scdholmesdundee@scotland.pnn.police.uk or telephone using 101 quoting reference number 3772 of March 7.”
