A man barricaded himself inside a flat in the Hilltown Terrace area of Dundee sparking a fifteen hour stand-off with police.
Armed officers and riot police arrived at the seige shortly after midnight on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses said a man could be heard shouting from the multi-storey at Bonnethill Court in Hilltown, with items also thrown from the building.
A large number of police officers, including several Police Scotland incident response units, were at the scene until around 3.30pm on Sunday.
It is understood the incident has since been resolved.
A spokeswoman for the force said there was no risk to the wider public.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance alongside medics from the ambulance service.
It is not known if anyone has been injured.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Officers were in attendance at a block of flats on Hilltown Terrace after a man barricaded himself within.
“Officers were called to the area around 12.40am on Sunday.
“There is no risk to the wider public.”
One resident who lives in Hilltown court said: “We came out in the afternoon and just seen all the police.
“We’d come down the stairs and the police officers told us to come out the back entrance.”
A second resident who had been staying at Bonnethill Court told The Courier she noticed the police at around 4am on Sunday.
“My boyfriend lives in Bonnethill Court and we noticed the police when we came home at about 4am.
“We saw riot vans with shields and there’s been a fire engine around the corner that’s not moved since it arrived.
“Whoever it is has been playing music since last night and I just came round the back and heard him blaring music again.
“They’ve got heavy doors on all the flats so you can’t break in like normal doors. They’re really heavy so that’s why they won’t be able to get in.”
