Seven-week search
A huge police search spanning seven weeks was launched shortly after 45-year-old mum Lynn was reported missing at the end of January.
Lynn was last seen at around 11.40pm on Sunday, January 23 in the Perth Road area of Dundee.
Soon after, a helicopter and specialist police resources joined the search as concerns for her welfare grew.
Officers carried out door-to-door enquiries speaking to neighbours and asking for private CCTV footage.
Police were seen entering blocks of flats on Magdalen Yard Road whilst other officers were using large search sticks on Windsor Street.
Residents said officers had been asking for dashcam and doorbell camera footage during their inquiries as the search area widened.
Speaking to The Courier at the time, Inspector Keith Anderson of Downfield Police Station, said: “We are continuing with extensive searches and police inquiries in order to trace Lynn McPaul.
“It is completely out of character for her to be out of touch with her family for this length of time.”
The following day, on January 28, photos of the jacket worn by her when she disappeared were shared by Police Scotland.
Police also further urged anyone who lives around Strawberry Bank, Richmond Terrace and Magdalen Green or the surrounding area to check any sheds or outbuildings where someone could seek shelter.
Family ‘bewildered’ by disappearance
On January 31, as the search entered its second week, police carried out searches at a Dundee’s Balgay Park and graveyard.
Several officers were spotted searching in and around the undergrowth near to the park’s entrance.
For the first time on February 4, Lynn’s family issued a statement on her mysterious disappearance.
The statement, issued through Police Scotland, said: “Lynn is a home-loving mum, with a tight-knit group of friends.
“She is missed terribly by all her family and friends, who are bewildered by her unexpected disappearance.
“She is friendly and approachable and would go out of her way to help others.
“Please, if anyone has seen her or has information on her whereabouts, contact Police Scotland.”
Inspector Keith Anderson said local police were using “all the resources available to them” while house-to-house enquiries and leaflet distribution continued alongside efforts by specialist search teams.
Sadly, seven weeks after she was last seen, the body of a woman believed to be Lynn was found in woodland near to George Pirie Way, Dundee.
