Thousands of people filled the streets of Dundee to welcome Christmas to the city in an extravagant night of fireworks, illuminations and performances.
The annual Light Night celebrations saw the City Square Christmas tree come to life, with Lord Provost Bob Duncan and Santa Claus switching on the city centre’s festive lights.
Elsewhere, in Slessor Gardens, a Christmas Night Market offered food, drinks and gifts from local producers, complete with an eye-catching backdrop of projections across the back of the Caird Hall.
Prominent buildings across the city, including the V&A, have been lit up, fireworks have exploded in the sky and a torchlight parade has been held.
Throughout the city centre, meanwhile, all manner of entertainers have brought music and colour to the masses.
In fact, so many turned-out to enjoy what was on offer, city centre roads were brought to a standstill.
