Protesters organised a demonstration outside the Overgate Shopping Centre in response to the UK government’s Autumn Statement.
The protest was called by Scottish Socialist Party (SSP) members to coincide with chancellor Philip Hammond’s first Autumn Statement, with the organisers advocating radical change such as a £10 minimum wage which they say will help the country’s poorest.
Around ten protesters dished out SSP flyers and encouraged passers-by to sign a ‘roll of shame’ of large employers who use zero hours contracts.
SSP secretary Connor Beaton, said: “We want to promote the Scottish Socialist alternative to the low pay and insecure work contracts that plague Tory Britain.”
