A popular Dundee pub has served its final customer.
The Capitol, which is run by JD Wetherspoon, has been sold to JSM Company Group Ltd, a real estate management company.
The taps stopped flowing after nearly 15 years on Sunday night.
All 40 staff have been offered alternative jobs at the company’s other pubs.
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “The pub has been sold to JSM Company Group Limited, with the deal completing on December 5.
“All of the pub’s staff will remain with Wetherspoon and be offered jobs at other pubs within the company.
“We thank our customers for their loyalty over the years.”
It is understood staff may not necessarily be relocated to Wetherspoon bars in Dundee, of which there are two.
The Capitol opened on July 22 2002, before which it was better known as the ABC Cinema.
It was put up for sale in October last year due to a “commercial decision” by Wetherspoon to put 34 of its UK pubs on the market.
The company retains The Counting House on Reform Street and Jolly’s in Broughty Ferry.
It is not yet known what the future of the venue will be under the new ownership.
The property still benefits from a premises licence permitting the sale of alcohol until 2.30am Thursday to Saturday.
David Glass, chairman of the Dundee Licensed Trading Association, previously raised concerns that people were not going to the pub to drink in the city centre any more.
He said people were getting cheap alcohol in the supermarket to drink instead before going out.
The news comes as other long-term Dundee establishments announced closures this year.
The Sporting Lounge shut down recently, after 38 years on Lochee High Street.
Papa Joe’s restaurant, on Whitehall Crescent, also recently announced they would close their doors for the final time on New Year’s Eve, after at least a decade in the city centre.
