The UK’s biggest multi-venue dance music event has made its return to Dundee today with hundreds of revellers enjoying the live sets.
The event is hosting its biggest line up ever at 28 venues across Dundee, with a combined capacity of almost 4,000 at the event’s closing party tonight in Fat Sams.
Almost 200 DJs are slated to perform at Dundee Dance Event, with live sets taking place at popular local venues like Gallery 48, Tinsmiths and the Kilted Kangaroo.
Organiser Mike McDonald says there has been a “fantastic buzz” about the event, which runs until midnight tonight.
“It’s great that we have the freedom this year now restrictions have ended and this seems to be echoed in the response we’ve had across our social pages.
“There really is a fantastic buzz,” he told The Courier.
“This year we have a dedicated outdoor site at Park Place car park with stage, bar and food vendors which I’m really excited about as it brings a new dimension to the event.
“We’ve also added another room at the closing party at Fat Sams so six music areas will be open, which will have different genres played in each, giving a total capacity of 4,000.”
The closing party at Fat Sams will be held in six rooms over three floors playing a wide range of different genres including vinyl classics, house and trance.
Organisers are also raising money for charity again, with £1 from every ticket going to Maggie’s Centre in memory of Dundee Dance Event DJ Zahid Butt.
“There’s something for everyone at DDE and it’s great to see people descend on the city centre and having a brilliant day, listening to great music and catching up with friends.
“That’s what the event is all about for me,” Mike added.
