Six sites on Dundee’s waterfront have “live developer interest”, the project’s director has said.
Plans for the plots of land around the central development include a potential comics museum, office space and apartments.
Allan Watt, who is leading the £1 billion project, said there had been a high level of interest in the area.
One of the potential developments currently being discussed is Plot Two, situated opposite Malmaison, which would include a museum celebrating the city’s rich comic past.
Mr Watt said: “An application has already been submitted for that particular site. By the end of the summer next year we should see the first shovel in the ground, and the development will take around 18 months.”
The overall redevelopment of the waterfront will stretch across five zones totalling 240 hectares of land.
It covers the 8km distance between Invergowrie Bay and Dundee Port and is expected to bring 7,000 jobs to the area.
Meanwhile, Andrew Cameron, design for business programme manager from V&A Museum of Design Dundee, told representatives from the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce of his ambitious project to encourage Scottish business to boost productivity through design.
