The first flight between Dundee and Shetland has taken to the skies following the launch of a new route on Monday.
Operated by Loganair, flights between the city and Sumburgh take about one hour and 15 minutes.
It becomes the third active route from Dundee Airport, with flights already available to London City and Belfast City airports.
How much do the new flights cost?
The service will run twice a week – on a Monday and a Thursday.
Three different ticket tariffs are available for the Dundee to Shetland flight, with Loganair saying that the costs are lower the further ahead they are booked.
The cheapest ticket costs, on average, between £100 and £150 one-way.
Other tickets cost between £150 and £180, or £200 upwards.
‘Making Dundee more accessible’
Kay Ryan, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said: “This new direct service between Dundee and Shetland allows for quick and easy access to two of Scotland’s most popular destinations for the first time.
“The route marks our third from Dundee Airport, adding to our popular London City and Belfast City services.
“We are delighted to be able to offer an enhanced choice of destinations for our customers in Dundee, while also making Dundee more accessible to visitors from elsewhere in the UK.”
Inglis Lyon, managing director at HIAL, the company that operates Dundee Airport, said: “The launch of Loganair’s service between Dundee and Shetland is reflective of the positive domestic recovery the aviation sector is experiencing across both Scotland and the UK.
“The new route will provide greater connectivity between the two locations and also allow passengers to link to London City.
“This is a welcome addition that will allow greater accessibility between national cities and remote areas of Scotland.”
