A veteran police dog is preparing for retirement as he enters his last year of service for Tayside police.
Eight-year-old German Shepherd, Rex, who came from Holland originally, is considered the ‘old man’ of the dog unit.
The general purpose police unit dog will be looking forward to endless days of woodland walks and chewing a bone on the porch after an action-packed career.
“Rex and his handler Police Constable Keenan have been together as an operational team on the streets of Tayside for almost seven years and have assisted with a number of notable arrests,” they said.
“We will continue to track Rex’s progress in his final year with Police Scotland and we wish him all the best.”
