Proposals have been submitted for new homes to be built on land at the site of the former Kingspark School. Persimmon Homes North Scotland has applied to develop houses at land on Dundee’s Gilburn Road. The news comes weeks after councillors gave the green light to a private buyer of the land in a seven figure deal. Liberal Democrat councillor Fraser Macpherson has previously expressed his dismay that the land sale was given the thumbs up. Environmental campaigners campaigned tirelessly to try to prevent the sale and to keep the land in public use. Activists feel Dundee City Council reneged on a deal to leave the space for public usage and took their case to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman Speaking after the land sale, local homeowner and activist Graham Low branded the decision to sell the land “a betrayal”. He said: “We feel like our views have just been completely ignored. “These people are meant to represent us. It’s shocking.” Dundee City Council has consistently said locals have been consulted throughout the process.
