Allan Strachan, who absconded from HMP Castle Huntly, has been traced
A 34-year-old man who absconded from HMP Castle Huntly while on a visit home has been traced, police have confirmed.
Police launched an appeal after Allan Strachan failed to return to the open-prison after a home visit on December 22.
He was traced in the Glasgow area on December 26.
Strachan was jailed in 2010 for attempted murder at the High Court in Glasgow, after being found guilty of repeatedly stamping and kicking William McAlear on the head.
The thug was caught on CCTV carrying out the brutal assault with two other men in Glasgow in September 2008.
