Man in his 80s taken to hospital after house fire in Dundee

A man in his 80s was taken to hospital after a house fire in Dundee on Tuesday morning.
Three fire crews tackled the blaze at a property on Macalpine Road, while an ambulance and special operations crew also attended.
The firefighters arrived shortly after 9am on Tuesday, and remained there for nearly an hour.
One man in his 80s, understood to be the occupier of the house, was taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance but his condition is not known.
One witness said: “I was just walking up to the post office in St Marys when I heard the ambulance and the fire engines on Macalpine Road.
“I saw two fire engines there.
“Smoke was billowing out the windows of a house.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We dispatched one ambulance and a special operations crew to the scene and transported one male in his 80s to Ninewells Hospital.”
