A man was reportedly stretchered from a Dundee block after allegedly being attacked during a weekend incident.
Several police units descended on Kingsway East in the Mid Craigie area of the city on Saturday night.
A man was taken to Ninewells Hospital shortly after 9pm as an investigation was launched into the disturbance.
The extent of the man’s injuries are unknown at this time.
Neighbours said there were as many as five police cars near the junction with Westhall Court at the height of the incident.
A visible police presence remained in the Dundee area overnight, after CID and unformed officers conducted inquiries.
One 36-year-old woman said she was “worried” by the events at the weekend as she returned home to see the police presence.
‘Concerning to hear what has happened’
She said: “I was returning home from work on Saturday night and there was at least five police cars and an ambulance.
“There had been police in the area on Friday as well but I was worried when I seen them back here on Saturday in such numbers.
“I asked one of the officers what had happened but he couldn’t say much and said there was an ongoing incident.
“The police remained in the street overnight but they never came to our door and asked us any questions.
“It is concerning to hear what has happened.”
‘Scary this has happened on our doorstep’
A 20-year-old woman who lives nearby said she had been alerted by friends on social media of the events on the street.
She said: “I’ve not lived here too long but it’s scary this has happened on our doorstep.
“A friend had asked me if I was aware of the police and CID near my address but I hadn’t heard anything until they contacted me.
“There was still a police car sitting outside the block on Sunday.”
We didn’t know the circumstances but knew it wasn’t good given the police presence.”
Local resident
One local man, who did not wished to be named, said the man was stretchered from the block.
He said: “The police were all parked on the grass embankment just alongside two ambulance crews.
“There was a guy who got stretchered away.
“We didn’t know the circumstances but knew it wasn’t good given the police presence.
“It isn’t uncommon to see the police here.
“There is a mixture of people living here so I’d imagine there would be some concern about what’s happened.”
Police Scotland
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Emergencies services attended at Kingsway East in Dundee at around 9pm on Saturday following reports that a man was found injured following an assault.
