An Invergowrie family had a traumatic start to the new year when they woke up to find that someone had sneaked into their home and stolen the children’s Christmas money.
The thief struck while the household was sleeping and took a three-figure sum of cash, as well as a bottle of alcohol and cigarettes.
Police are now hunting for the culprit, who carried out the theft some time between 1.45am and 4.15am on January 1 at Mylnefield Road.
The resident of the property posted an appeal for information online, which has been shared a number of times.
She said: “Someone has come into my house in the middle of the night while me and my kids were sleeping and stolen alcohol, cigarettes and my kids’ Christmas money that was sitting out!
“I am absolutely disgusted, shocked and raging. The police have been informed and forensics will be taking fingerprints!
“Luckily the kids are oblivious but I’m a bit shaken up at the thought of some creep wandering around while I was asleep.
“I don’t care about anything going missing it’s the creepiness of someone walking around my house without my knowledge or permission. Feel sick.”
The children’s father added: “To the low life scumbag that thinks it was ok to walk into my wee boys’ mum’s house last night in Mylnefield Road and take drink, cigarettes and children’s Christmas money while sleeping…I’m gonna do everything in my power to have a name for you.
“I don’t care about what was taken…I just want to know who entered the property while the household were sleeping.”
Police are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.
