A Dundee bakery firm has announced the closure of its Broughty Ferry store as bosses start the search for new premises.

Rough & Fraser will shut its Brook Street branch in the coming weeks.

But company chiefs have vowed that no staff will lose their jobs – and say they want to find another site in the area.

The chain already has outlets on Kinghorne Road and Provost Road.

‘Reasons for closure outwith our control’

The reason for the closure has not been confirmed but bosses say there are circumstances outwith their control.

A post on the firm’s Facebook page said: “We are sorry to be posting this, however we are very sadly closing our shop in Broughty Ferry for reasons outwith our control.

“We would like to thank you all for your valued custom over the last nine years.

“We are actively looking for another premises in the Ferry and hope to be open again very soon.

Customers have expressed their sadness at the shop’s closure.

One posted: “One of the best bakery Rough and Frasers.”

Another said they were “gutted”, while another wrote: “Sad news, love your butteries.”
