Popular Broughty Ferry café and farm shop Jessie’s Kitchen has closed suddenly.
The owners are yet to reveal the reasons for the Albert Road business’s immediate closure.
But a winding up order was recently filed at Dundee Sheriff Court with the company set to be liquidated.
Owners ‘absolutely gutted’
In a statement issued on Thursday, owner Ross Turriff said: “It’s happened – we’ve closed the doors at our beautiful café and are no longer trading at all in Jessie’s, garden centre or farm shop.
“We’re absolutely gutted to say goodbye.
“It’s been a fantastic rollercoaster and learning curve that we wouldn’t have swapped it for the world.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who’s walked through our doors and supported us.
“We’ve worked with the best people and had the loveliest customers walk through our doors, some of them several times a week for 11 years and we’re really, really going to miss you all.
He added: “Closing the doors this suddenly is far from ideal, we totally get that, but there are some things in this that we just couldn’t alter. We’re so sorry for any customers affected.”
The business opened in 2010 in what was Mr Turriff’s grandparents’ home, known previously as Broomhall.
It contains a garden centre and farm shop as well as a café which features views across to the River Tay.
Sudden closure to ‘protect staff’
Mr Turriff added: “Part of closing in this way is to protect our fantastic staff.
“Anyone that’s set foot in Jessie’s will know that we’ve built up an amazing team and had some brilliant people wearing our aprons over the years.
“We’re so proud of them all and wanted to send our heartfelt thanks for helping us make Jessie’s what it was.
“Obviously, this means that some of our team are looking for new employment..
“Thank you everyone for all of your custom and support over the years at Jessie’s, it’s been a beautiful thing to be a part of.”
